Bonjour à tous – de “La Garangeoire” - Thomson Al Fresco Blog
The holiday mode is now in full swing here at La Garangeoire. Anne and Éric Bourgon run La Garangeoire with such passion and so popular is this site that customers return year after year. Evidently they are doing something right.
La Garangeoire is an exceptional campsite in a protected environment of a 500 acre tree-filled park where you can’t help but be impressed by the natural beauty of the place.
The multi-lingual staff are also multi-taskers; reception one day; manning the well-stocked shop the next (and a very reasonably priced shop may I say). Whatever questions we can’t answer, you can guarantee that La Garangeoire staff can. After all, living locally, they know the area better than anyone.
La Garangeoire boasts a top class campsite restaurant; you may pay a little more but worth every penny for that personal touch and more importantly the homemade dishes. Everything on the menu is cooked from scratch; the only bought-in food is the fresh produce. So proud of their restaurant, Anne and Éric are happy to invite small groups to view their kitchen as the chef preps his food for the day.
For those not wanting to indulge in the restaurant (though this could be a mistake!!) there is a super take-away service at the pool/bar, and on good authority it is well worth a whirl.
May bank holiday is fast approaching and La Garangeoire has risen to the influx of arrivals with a calendar full of events and things to do.
Weekly events that will be ongoing from now throughout the summer include: Yoga; Archery; Fishing; Canoeing and Pedaloes; Tennis; Horse riding; Boules; Go-karting for all ages; Children’s playground and trampolines.
- A walking tour of the estate including inside La Garangeoire manor.
- Organised bike rides both easy and slightly challenging rides around the campsite, estate and locality. If you don’t fancy an organised ride then Stephan is happy to hire out bikes at a very reasonable rate so you can discover the region at your own leisure.
- Quiz Night
- Kids, Teens and Adult Disco evenings
There are numerous local attractions and in his weekly welcome meeting Éric is eager to share everything the Vendée has to offer. For a full day out try the famous Puy du Fou; a very popular theme park; an historical museum, beaches 15 minutes away by car, local markets to sample the regions produce.
And if none of this grabs you then you can just relax in the warm Vendéen sun, dip your feet in the heated pool, and have your favourite tipple served to you by the friendly bar staff.
This really is a site to suit everyone. There is something for all!
Bonnes Vacances. Hope to see you soon.
